Worth the While: Jeremiah Project

Editor’s Note: Last week 16 middle school students and five leaders traveled to Romney, West Virginia to participate in the Jeremiah Project. The following is a blog post from one of the students on the trip, Charlie Miller. It was my first year on a mission trip as well as my first year at Jeremiah Project (JP), and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But as soon as I got there I was glad because the minute I entered everyone was so friendly and cheerful, including the staff. Oh, and JP has ... Read More »

Feeling the Love at Jeremiah Project

Editor’s Note: Last week 16 middle school students and five leaders traveled to Romney, West Virginia to participate in the Jeremiah Project. The following is a blog post from one of the students on the trip, Sydney Schneider. During the mission trip there were plenty of sermons, but one sermon really stood out and helped me grow in faith with God. The key word in worship that day was “love,” and the verse was 1 Peter 1:22. The verse states, “Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so ... Read More »

At the Worksite

Editor’s Note: This week 16 middle school students and five leaders traveled to Romney, West Virginia to participate in the Jeremiah Project. The following are updates from two of the students on the trip. I went to the Jeremiah Project this year. I want to share what it was like on the worksite. You have to wear jeans at the site, and it is very hot. You have to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. On the first day you get put on a work team. Your team creates a ... Read More »

The Holy Spirit in West Virginia

Praise the Lord, the Holy Spirit is alive and well at J.P. in Romney, WV! For our first four days here, Monday and Tuesday were workdays, Wednesday we had off for “free day” and Thursday was another workday. The work is going fine. The jobs are getting finished, and the kids are working hard (most of the time) as the crews work to be the hands and feet of Christ. But it’s not the work or the jobs that I want to talk about here; it’s the presence of Christ’s ... Read More »

Jeremiah Project Updates

These past three days have been a blast! I think everyone can agree that the work we’ve done for other people has been life changing. Even though the mornings are cold, the working hours warm our hearts knowing that our hard work and perseverance gets the job done. Meeting new people from other churches allows us to create new friendships while growing in our faith. Every night the director leads us in songs, a program and prayer. It’s a perfect way to end a busy day. -Megan Connell  Today at our ... Read More »

First Day at Jeremiah Project

Today was Monday and the first day of work at Jeremiah Project.  At first, I was really nervous about my work group. Though in the past I have had grand experiences with my group, I tend to be nervous when meeting new people. There was only one person in my group that was from my church, and I didn’t even remember the names of the others. However, as soon as we got into our van, I could tell we all had chemistry. Our work assignment today involved washing the outside ... Read More »
