Reverend Tom Berlin has invited us to take the 30 minute Thanksgiving challenge he shared with us on Sunday. It begins with this Psalm:
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
“Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to take 30 minutes to meet with God and share our gratitude for the blessings of our life and the past year. I invite you to take the 30 minute Thanksgiving challenge I shared with you on Sunday. I created this devotional exercise to give you an easy way to think about the people and blessings for which you are grateful so that you can offer thanks to God. Attending to each section of this exercise, you will write a prayer of thanksgiving that you are invited to share with God. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year. I am sure this has to do with family, friends, feasts and football. Some of my favorite moments of Thanksgiving, however, happen when I simply do what the day is designed for: give thanks to God.”
