Dear Floris Family,
I hope that you are enjoying a great summer. Several of you have commented how much you have enjoyed our new live stream opportunities every Sunday at 9:15 and 11 a.m. One Floris UMC member told me that she took her daughter and a friend on a cruise. It was Sunday when they disembarked and were in a shuttle. The girls asked her for her phone. She could not understand their urgency. It turned out that it was Sunday at 9:15 and they wanted to attend the Floris UMC worship service remotely. If you would have told me 25 years ago that people would connect to a worship service on a mobile phone smaller than your hand that has a video screen, I would have wondered how you even thought that up. I am glad that this new technology is keeping you connected no matter where you travel. Be sure to join us when you are out of town.
What’s Your Favorite Song?
During the month of August the worship team is offering the congregation the opportunity to choose the songs for worship. Please take a moment and send us your favorite songs or hymns, the ones that best help you to worship God. Email your suggestions to Kristin Umbaugh.
Garden Project Update
Our Garden Project is an effort to serve low income families and individuals by growing and harvesting fresh produce on our church property. As I mentioned in Sunday’s sermon, our garden is very fruitful. Just last week 15 pounds of fresh produce was delivered to Western Fairfax Christian Ministries and we expect that to only increase. If you would like to be a part of this effort, volunteer opportunities are available on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. For more information contact Jake McGlothin or visit the garden project page on our website. This is a great opportunity for the entire family.
Our giving kiosk will be up and running this Sunday. You can find it next to the Connection Point Desk. Here are some frequently asked questions that you might find helpful.
This Week in Worship
Join us Sunday morning to hear the message “Do Not Worry.” Scripture: Matthew 6:25-34. At 5 p.m. we will enjoy a special service of praise and worship.
